"Chevaliers sans frontières" (knights without borders):
a fine example of cross-border cooperation. The Gimbelhof theme
playground, close to the frontier and opposite Fleckenstein castle,
highlights the natural and cultural advantages of the two regions
(the Sauer Valley and Dahner Felsenland), linked by a common past.
In an encampment of knights: a drawbridge, shields, mythical animals
carved into the sandstone, a hidden treasure protected by a ferocious
dragon are waiting impatiently for your visit... Come and find the
treasure!
In the cross-border biosphere reserve, classes take part in heritage
awareness and protection programmes. In France, classes work on
subjects such as the forest, orchards and the lynx. In Germany,
the subjects are Waldjugenspiel and Waldolympiade.
Sometimes joint action programmes are organised for French and
German classes. A work group has been set up to consider the possibilities
of cooperation between classes on themes such as water, cross-border
rivers, the forest, etc.
If you have ideas for projects, or if you would like to meet French
or German pupils from the cross-border biosphere reserve, talk about
it to your schoolteacher, then write to us.
