We have finally accepted the idea
that by working in close cooperation with our neighbours we can go
further and faster in preserving our environment. Our borders
are man-made inventions unknown to Nature. It is thus essential to
surpass these historic boundaries that often inhibit effective action.
Promoting sustainable development that fully respects our joint
historic and natural heritage, shared by the people on both sides
of the border, will open up new and boundless possibilities.
The Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve was established to take advantage
of this dynamic. Opening our borders means exchanging ideas to
take full advantage of all that each of us can contribute, finding
concrete solutions to deal with real-life situations as they
really are, while taking the environment fully into account.
