Underground milieux (mines, military fortifications...)
in the area serve as winter home for numerous bats
including the Greater Mouse-eared bat (Myotis myotis),
Long-eared Bats, Barbastella (Barbastella
barbastellus)

and Geoffroy's Bat (Myotis
emarginatus) amongst others.
These fascinating sites provide a very specific environment
given their hygrometry, temperature and the darkness that
reigns.
