A biosphere reserve is not necessarily an area where we attempt to preserve Man and his activities. Some areas to be preserved are unspoilt, in others we try to preserve particular traditions, and a particular culture and identity that are equally part of our World Heritage. Vosges du Nord-Pfälzerwald is one of the latter regions.
